It's one thing to have a closet stuffed full of beautiful clothes- but means nothing if you can't find any of them. Women's Health magazine dove into the "average woman's" closet, and here is what they found:
34% of women would rather get a dental cleaning than organize their bedroom closet
1 in 50 women add to their closet at least once a week
32% of women equally divide closet space with their guy... 24% of women hog most of the space
56% of women would rather have a walk-in closet than a diamond engagement ring (a la Carrie Bradshaw)
15% of women would rather go without sex in exchange for a closet full of new clothes
25% of the average woman's clothes never leave the hanger... why it doesn't fit
19 is the number of shoes in the average woman's closet (I happen to blow that waaay out of the water :).... Mariah Carey has 1,000!!!
Percentage of women who are embarrassed that they still own:
9% non-gym related lycra
8% tie-dye T-shirts
6% MC Hammer pants
69% of women who say the bum economy has kept them out of clothing stores
60% of women say they can't see the back of their closets
Only 1 in 100 women have hired a pro to tackle the mess!
As a general rule, if you haven't worn it in a year, GET RID OF IT! Being in the middle of a recession doesn't change the rules. It just means you need to learn to shop your own closet before you give anything away. You don't have to spend a ton of money to look like a million bucks. Just be smart in your spending, and knowledgeable about what you already have. The best way to do so is to have a professional (like me) come in and help you make those tough decisions... to give away, or not to give away. That is the question......
